IRE #14: Homo floresiensis

…In mid-campaign, the PCs find out that God (or the Gods) have preserved remnants a holy race and it’s the PC’s responsibility to shepherd them into contact with the rest of the world… and protect them from “the enemy”. The players will probably expect a “super race” (like Elves or Irda) and will probably be amazed that “small idiots” are favored of the Gods.

IRE #14: Homo floresiensis

Our IRE this time around keys off of some new revelations about those mysterious “hobbit sized” skeletons found on an Indonesian island last year. As mentioned in a previous blog entry, Carl Zimmer’s blog has a nice recap of the biology and the speculation thereof.

So what can you do with this?

So far, I’m stumped. Pure stream of consciousness…

Maybe they’re God’s chosen, eliminated by a PC race back in prehistory. They could be a slave race in a low-magic historical world– maybe FATE or D&D.

In mid-campaign, the PCs find out that God (or the Gods) have preserved remnants a holy race and it’s the PC’s responsibility to shepherd them into contact with the rest of the world… and protect them from “the enemy”. The players will probably expect a “super race” (like Elves or Irda) and will probably be amazed that “small idiots” are favored of the Gods.

What will they do? What if the source is unchallengable, a direct vision? What if it’s not?
