Furies of Calderon is a tight book with several point of view characters. The primary characters are Amara and Tavi, who are about 25 and 15 respectively. The author does a good job of writing the characters as real people, not lobotomized just because they’re young. The world is fantastic, with magic as very common, though grounded in people rather than “magical technology”.
